Paul PolingRt 1 Box 46Hambleton, WV 26269When sending in samples for testing for Nosema, please follow the directions below:
- capture 10 bees leaving the hive (not returning) from each hive to be tested
- contain the samples in 70% alcohol or higher
- the post office will not allow alcohol to be shipped in containers, so you will need to drain off as much alcohol as possible before shipping
Paul will be sending us a copy of his presentation to be made available on the web site. Check back in a day or two and I should have it ready for viewing.
Honey Bee's and Coal Mines???
Last Updated on Monday, 17 May 2010 06:27 Written by James Higginbotham Tuesday, 30 March 2010 17:59
I stumbled across an article that I wanted to share. This article is about Dr. Tammy Horn and her work with honey bees and coal mines that are reclaiming the mining sites. The goal for the coal companies is obviously restoring the land. Dr. Horn has a much larger goal in mind... restoring the land, teaching out of work coal miners to become beekeepers, and providing the bee's with a suitable habitat. Check out the article below and send Dr. Horn an email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) to let her know we support her in her efforts.

We would like to thank Marsh Lumber for allowing us the opportunity to hold our meeting at their store. We all had a great time and members were able to look at what they had for sale in the store. There are some items on the price list that may not be on the shelves and may not be on the price list. Just ask and the staff will make note of the items and try to obtain the items for you.
